The Annapurna Base Camp Trek Via Poon Hill with Nepal Mountain Adventure starts from USD 1,149 per person including a licensed guide, porter, all teahouse accommodation, three daily meals, and ACAP and TIMS permits for the complete extended itinerary.
This trek is rated moderate in difficulty with daily walking of 5 to 6 hours. The additional Poon Hill section at the start of the trek serves as a natural warm up before the altitude increases toward Chhomrong, Bamboo, and Annapurna Base Camp at 4,130 m.
Nepal Mountain Adventure’s ABC Via Poon Hill itinerary takes 14 to 16 days, starting from Nayapul, ascending to Ghorepani and Poon Hill first, then continuing through Tadapani, Ghandruk, Chhomrong, and up the Modi Khola valley to the Annapurna Sanctuary at 4,130 m before descending back to Pokhara.
Travelers must be conscious of what they bring with them on their journey. You should include a variety of items in your packaging list. You must pack trekking equipment, clothing, medicines, a visa, necessary paperwork, debit cards, and so on.
Spring (March to April) is the best time as the rhododendron forests on the Poon Hill section bloom brilliantly and the weather at Annapurna Base Camp is stable and clear. Autumn (October to November) is the second best option with excellent visibility at both Poon Hill and inside the sanctuary.
Two permits cover the full route which are the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP, USD 30) and the TIMS card (USD 20). Nepal Mountain Adventure arranges both permits in Pokhara before departure so trekkers face no delays on the first trekking day.
Yes, the Via Poon Hill version is widely considered the most complete Annapurna region experience because it includes Poon Hill and Ghorepani at the start which adds cultural depth, the best sunrise viewpoint in the region, and rhododendron forest scenery before the ascent to the high alpine Annapurna Sanctuary.
The risk is low to moderate as the maximum altitude is 4,130 m at Annapurna Base Camp. The gradual altitude gain across the extended itinerary gives the body excellent time to acclimatize naturally. NMA guides carry pulse oximeters and altitude medication for the high altitude section above Bamboo (2,310 m).
The route has excellent teahouse infrastructure throughout with comfortable lodges in all main stops including Ghorepani, Tadapani, Ghandruk, Chhomrong, and Bamboo. Accommodation inside the Annapurna Sanctuary at 4,130 m is more basic but fully functional with hot meals and warm beds available.
Yes, this itinerary is specifically designed as a one way loop that approaches the Annapurna Sanctuary from the Ghorepani side and descends via Chhomrong and Nayapul without walking the same section of trail twice, making every day of the trek visually fresh and new.
