FAQ

Will we need any permits to travel Annapurna Region?

The answer is Yes. You will require the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) and our good old Trekker’s Information Management System Card (TIMS card). These cost $20 each for a particular hiker. Hikers can achieve both at the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) in Kathmandu. You will need your passport and passport-sized photos with you.

Should I hire a guide/porter?

We can do the ACT without a guide or porter. However, it’s good to know your options. Having a guide may be helpful if you are entirely new to trekking or if you are traveling just by yourself. Porters can ease the burden by carrying your stuff during the Trek. You should think of selecting one if you have current medical problems which could bother you while trekking.

Will Wi-Fi be provided throughout the hike in Annapurna Region?

Most guesthouses will allow Wi-Fi, either for free or for a small charge. But, since you will be in the high mountains, the Wi-Fi may not work on any needing day for many causes, so don’t depend on it. And anyway, staying offline for a while can be surprisingly pleasant!

Do we need Insurance while trekking in Annapurna Region?

Insurance is not a compulsion, but having them is the safest way to trek the Himalayas. If you are doing Annapurna trek below five days, you can skip the Insurance, but above five days trek in Annapurna insurance is recommended.

What about drinking water in the Annapurna trek?

You can buy mineral water bottles in most places in the Annapurna region, but few places are water bottle band areas still you can buy boiled filter water. Along the path in the Annapurna region, there are plenty of local restaurants where they sell bottles of water. If you are a budget trekker, you must carry water purification tablets because there are many water sources and drink them with purifying tablets.
