FAQ

What is the Ghorepani Mardi Himal Combine Trek?

The Ghorepani Mardi Himal Combine Trek is a 10 to 12 day loop trek in the Annapurna region that connects the famous Poon Hill sunrise viewpoint at 3,210 m with the dramatic Mardi Himal Base Camp at 4,500 m, creating one of the most diverse and rewarding combination treks available from Pokhara.

How much does the Ghorepani Mardi Himal Combine Trek cost?

The Ghorepani Mardi Himal Combine Trek with Nepal Mountain Adventure starts from USD 899 per person including a licensed guide, porter, all teahouse accommodation, three daily meals, ACAP permit, and TIMS card for the complete 10 to 12 day itinerary.

How difficult is the Ghorepani Mardi Himal Combine Trek?

This combined trek is rated moderate in difficulty. The Poon Hill section is easy while the Mardi Himal section adds more altitude and steeper terrain, making the combination well suited for trekkers who want a step up from easy short treks but are not yet ready for the demanding Annapurna Base Camp or Circuit routes.

How many days does the Ghorepani Mardi Himal Combine Trek take?

Nepal Mountain Adventure operates this trek over 10 to 12 days starting from Pokhara, completing the Poon Hill sunrise section first through Ghorepani and Tadapani, then transitioning to the Mardi Himal trail through Forest Camp, Low Camp, High Camp, and base camp before descending to Pokhara via Siding village.

What is the maximum altitude on the Ghorepani Mardi Himal Combine Trek?

The highest point is 4,500 m at Mardi Himal Base Camp with an optional viewpoint above base camp reaching approximately 4,700 m. The Poon Hill section peaks at 3,210 m making this a well graduated combination where altitude increases gradually and naturally across the itinerary.

What is the best time for the Ghorepani Mardi Himal Combine Trek?

Spring (February to April) is the best time because both trail sections pass through the most spectacular rhododendron forests in the Annapurna region simultaneously in bloom. This is widely regarded as the most visually stunning time to walk either trail independently and the combination in spring is truly exceptional.

What permits are required for the Ghorepani Mardi Himal Combine Trek?

Two permits cover both trail sections which are the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP, USD 30) and the TIMS card (USD 20). Nepal Mountain Adventure processes all permits before departure from Pokhara so there are zero delays at the trailhead.

What are the main highlights of this combination trek?

The three main highlights are the pre-dawn sunrise from Poon Hill (3,210 m) with views of over 20 Himalayan peaks, the spectacular ridge walk along the Mardi Himal trail with continuous mountain views, and the dramatic arrival at Mardi Himal Base Camp (4,500 m) with a face to face view of Machhapuchhre (6,993 m).

Is this combination better than doing Poon Hill or Mardi Himal alone?

Yes, the combination is far superior to doing either trek alone because it eliminates the repetitive descent on the same trail, creates a genuine loop that covers completely different terrain and scenery on every single day, and delivers two separate world class viewpoints in one continuous journey from Pokhara.

Is this combine trek suitable for beginners?

The trek is well suited for beginner to intermediate trekkers with a reasonable level of fitness. The gradual altitude gain from Poon Hill (3,210 m) to Mardi Himal Base Camp (4,500 m) over multiple days gives the body time to adjust comfortably without any extreme altitude risk.
