Overview
The Helambu Trek is the easy, short, and most popular trek among all the treks of the Langtang region. If culture fascinates you, you’ve taken a good decision. The unison of Hyolmo, Tamang, and Sherpa cultures is the main attraction of this region. The amazing natural beauty, cultural richness, Buddhist monasteries, views of the Himalayas, and apple farm will accompany us throughout the trail.
The breathtaking vistas of the Langtang Lirung, Manaslu, Gaurishankar, Ganesh Himal, and Rolwaling are one of the highlights of the Helambu Trek. The walk can be accomplished in a week and is very simple compared to other treks in Nepal, making it a good choice for beginners or people with limited time.
It is a less crowded trail that keeps getting beautiful as we trek higher and descend to get back. The trail starts from the heart of Kathmandu from where we will drive north to Sundarijal village followed by the hike through Shivapuri National Park. We will get to Tharepati, Tarke Ghyang, Sermanthang, Melamchi Gaon, and Melamchi Pul Bazaar exploring the hidden beauty that nature beholds.
We will explore the Helambu region with the absolute beauty of the Himalayas accompanying us throughout. The trek ends with a bagful of beautiful trekking memories and a drive to go on a trek again very soon.

Welcome to Kathmandu! Our airport representative will receive you at the airport. You don’t need to bother about the hotel check-in procedures. That’s on our side. You will be transferred to the hotel where you can rest and freshen up.
People get amazed by the street culture of Kathmandu. So, you can step down and hover around in the evening. Overnight.
After a hearty breakfast, we will begin our day with an early morning visit to the most popular Hindu shrine i.e. Pashupatinath. The vibe around the temple is something you will cherish.
After that, we will visit the monkey temple (Swayambhunath) and the famous Tibetan stupa (Bouddhanath Stupa). Our visit to these sites sums up our sightseeing program in Kathmandu.
Our trek guide will give a brief explanation of this trek. The nearby markets have an exclusive collection of trekking gear. You can help yourself if you need something.
“Sundarijal” translates to beautiful waterfalls in literal meaning. It lies on the north of Kathmandu within the Shivapuri National Park. It is about 16 km away from Kathmandu. It is the starting point of the trek. It is a wonderful opportunity to explore waterfalls, wildlife, and temples.
Sundarijal can be a bit crowded as it is popular for a picnic spot near Kathmandu. We begin our hike towards Chisapani which passes the forest featuring shades of tall trees, green hills, fresh atmosphere. No crowd! HOW BEAUTIFUL IT CAN GET.
We will walk past the pipeline towards Mulkharka where we can enjoy the view of the valley and the trail we came through. After that, we will continue to reach Chisapani. Chisapani welcomes us with stunning views of the mountains. Overnight.
Today, we will be hiking through a bit bumpy trail. After early morning breakfast, we will be set on our journey. We will enjoy the views of the Langtang range on this day.
The first part will be walking down the hill towards Pati Bhanjyang ( a Brahmin and Chhetri settlement). A small white Chorten and rhododendron forest is a real visual treat for us amidst the trail. After that, the trail goes up and then down to reach Gul Bhanjyang. It is a settlement of Tamang people where you can relax, have snacks, and chitchat with the locals.
We will again walk down and then take a final ascend to reach Kutumsang. We will have to walk through a rocky trail to reach today’s destination. Overnight in Kutumsang.
We will follow the ridgeline through the forest where the views of Goshaikunda peak and Langtang range. We will walk past a village named Magen Goth. The walk amidst nature feels so surreal. It can also be titled as one of the best ridge walks in the Goshaikunda trek trail.
We will reach the highest altitude village of this trek after crossing Magen Goth i.e Tharepati. Then, we will descend the trail. As we descend down, the glory of rhododendron trees and cone vegetation overwhelms us.
Melamchi Gaon is a densely populated Sherpa village where there is a clear reflection of Tibetan Culture.
The village has a fine collection of luxurious lodges and archaic monasteries. Get to know about their practices! Talk with the locals. You are gonna love it!
Tarke Ghyang is the largest village in the Helambu region. After a hearty breakfast, we will start walking down the village and traverse the Melamchi Khola by a bridge that stands at 1890 meters. We will descend up here.
A long climb up the other side of the valley awaits us. We will finally reach Tarke Ghyang. The beautiful amalgamation of Sherpa culture and spirituality adds more richness to this place. Overnight.
Sermanthang is famous for the name of the sweet apple farm. The delicious and juicy apple production happens to be in this culturally and naturally rich village.
We will descend through the beautiful forests and many Sherpa villages to reach to Sermanthang. The astonishing views of the Himalayas will captivate our souls. The Himalayas in her absolute beauty!

The path slopes steeply downwards until reaching the road in Panchkhal, located in a Himalayan river valley. Today, we’ll embark on a bus journey to Kathmandu, traveling through Melamchi Bazaar. The route offers scenic views along the Melamchi River, showcasing the beautiful natural scenery and agricultural land.
Our airport representative will drop you at the Tribhuwan International Airport for your flight to the homeland.

Helambu Trek is not at all difficult. The walking hours are less and the package is well structured. So, an average healthy person can easily complete it.
The best time for this trek is March- September, October, November. The weather in these seasons is mild and moderate. The clear view of mountains will be a visual treat for your eyes.
Mineral water is available in every teahouse. However, a Water purifying bottle can be the best alternative.
Wi-Fi isn’t available everywhere. If you feel any urgency, you can use mobile data.
It doesn’t require any technical expertise or specific training. An average healthy man can go on this trek easily and praise the beautiful nature of the region.
