Karnali is the largest and longest river of Nepal forming from Mt. Kailash (a sacred mountain in Tibet). The Karnali River has become a popular rafting destination due to its rapid flowing water and narrow gorges.

If you are searching for a dramatic long rafting experience then the Karnali River Rafting is an ideal trip for you. It provides you with great scenery and a roller coaster thrilling raft experience. During this trip you will also get to visit the Bardiya National Park at the end of the trip. The speedy and bouncy water will even make your experience great. You will be rafting from various jungles and setting up camps.

It will be a life time experience for you. The clear water of Karnali flows between the green hills which gives it even more picturesque view. Rafting in Karnali can give you class III, IV, and V rapid sections. Karnali is also famous for fishing. The trip begins with a drive to Surkhet which will take a long day. Then the next day is a drive to Sauli which will be the starting point of rafting.

From Sauli there will be a continuous 3 to 4 days of rafting until we reach Jamuna Village. We will take a day break at the Jamuna Village and continue the next day rafting to Chisapani. Here is an ending point; you can make a visit to the popular Bardiya National Park in the remaining time. Most of the time during the rafting trip; we will set up camps for the night. Then we will return back to Kathmandu from Chisapani which is also a long drive.

Detail Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Nepal

Meals: Dinner

Hello from Nepal!!

It’s your arrival day in Nepal. Our representative will pick you up from the airport and drop you at the hotel. You can take a shower have some rest and manage your stuff in the hotel. We will meet you at the dinner in the evening and introduce you to the group. You can enjoy a delicious local Nepali cuisine dinner.

Overnight stay at the hotel of Kathmandu.

Day 2: Sightseeing Day in Kathmandu and prepare for the trip

Trip Duration: 7 to 8 hours

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

We will take a day to embrace the beauty of Kathmandu. We will start off with a plate of warm breakfast. Then we will start to sight see the popular cultural heritages and historical sites available in Kathmandu like: Pahupatinath Temple, Swayambu Monkey Temple, Boudhanath, Patan Durbar Square, Basantapur Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, etc.

Finishing the sightseeing day we will return back to the hotel and prepare the bags for the trip. Overnight stay in Kathmandu.

Day 3: Drive to Surkhet

Drive Duration: 13 to 15 hours

Travelled km: 596.3 km

Early in the morning we will pick you up from the hotel and we will join the drive to Surkhet. We will be driving towards the far western side of Nepal. The journey goes through flats of the terai region. We will pass through rivers, hill views, and small villages. The journey is long so we will reach Surkhet by the evening.

If some disturbance came during the way or it will take a bit long we might reach Surkhet by the next morning. Overnight stay in Surkhet.

Day 04: Drive to Sauli

Drive Duration: 5 hours

Travelled km: 180 km

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

We will have our breakfast in Surkhet and continue to drive to Sauli. The Karnali region is very far from Kathmandu, it lies in the end part of Nepal so we will have longs drives to reach there. We will take a lunch break at Dungeshwar. During this drive you can see the unspoiled and untouched beautiful village sites.

After reaching Sauli we will go for a short rafting to reach the bank of Karnali and set up our camps for the night.

Day 05Rafting and camping on beach

Rafting hour: 4 hours

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Today we will officially begin our rafting. We will begin the day with a sweet breakfast, and then set off for the rafting. Today we have a wild section to complete. The river flow is wild in his part of the river. We will get at least one great class IV rapid in. We will be rafting for around 4 hours today.

Then we will take a break and continue an hour of rating to reach the beach. We will set up the camp and spend a night there.

Day 06Rafting and set up between jungle

Rafting hours: 6 hours

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Today you will be able to get the real taste of rating in Himalayan water. We are going for a continuous rafting ride and enter the jungle clad. With all efforts and team work we will complete this rafting. Today has a rough section.

You will get to enjoy the thrilling raft journey. For the night, we will set up our camp in between the jungle.

Day 07Camping at the Seti Dovan

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Today we will have some breakfast in our camp and then head towards Seti Dovan. Continuing our raft through lush vegetation, we will reach Seti Dovan. We will set up our camp here for the night. You can enjoy this beautiful untouched place and explore it.

Day 08Camping in Jamuna Village

Rafting Duration: 3 hours

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Continue our paddle; we will head towards Jamuna Village today. After having breakfast, the whole crew will set off to the river. You will have some of the greatest view during the rafting. After we reach the Jamuna Village, we will set up our camps and sightsee the village areas.

Overnight stay in the camp.

Day 09Rest day

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

You might have been tired by the continuous rafting for longs days. So today you can rest and relax, take a day off. You can enjoy the nearby places of the village. It is an optional day but if you are not tired and want to continue the journey, you are always welcome to do so. Overnight stay in Jamuna Village.

Day 10End of raft at Chisopani

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

We will end our thrilling raft at the Chisopani Bridge. The rafting continues to Seti River and passing the village we will stop at the Chisapani. You can also have a visit to Bardiya National Park. You can see many types of wild animals and unique species there. Or you can even choose to go back to Kathmandu in night bus which is optional.

Overnight stay in Chisopani.

Day 11Back to Kathmandu

Drive Duration: 9 to 10 hours

Travelled km: 527 km

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Finishing our adventurous journey, we will head back to Kathmandu. It is a long ride to Kathmandu from here. We will take short lunch break in the middle and continue to drive. We might reach Kathmandu by the evening. We will drop you at the hotel. You can have dinner and rest well.

Overnight stay in Kathmandu.

Day 12Departure

Today you will be leaving Nepal. It is the end of the thrilling and adventurous journey in the rivers of Nepal. Our representative will help you drive to airport as per you flight time. We wish you a safe journey and hope to see you again in Nepal.
