How difficult is the day hike toward the Tibet border from Samdo?

The Tibet border day hike involves a 3 to 4 hour ascent from Samdo (3,875 m) to approximately 5,000 m on open glacier moraine terrain. The altitude gain is significant and all trekkers must be fully acclimatized from the preceding Manaslu Circuit days before attempting this high altitude excursion.

What food and water is available during the Tibet border day hike?

There are no teahouses or water sources above Samdo on the Tibet border trail. Nepal Mountain Adventure provides packed lunches and sufficient water for all trekkers before departure from Samdo each morning. Trekkers should carry at least 2 litres of water and high energy snacks for the full day excursion.
