The Manaslu Circuit Tsum Valley trek is one of Nepal’s famous and is full of cultural experiences where you will be able to see the sacred sanctuary of Buddhist monasteries and many more. Tsum Valley Trek, also known as Hidden Valley, is a land full of Monasteries and hamlets where the majority of people are from Tibet in the northern part of the Manaslu region.

Manaslu Tsum Valley Trekking area lies on the Nepal- Tibet border, and this area was also one of the restricted zones for trekking until 2008. This region completely falls under Nepal but is heavenly influenced by Tibetan natives. You will observe many culturally mixed people in this region.

Tsum Valley Nepal used to be a separate area that did not belong to both Nepal and Tibet in ancient times But now it’s a part of Nepal. This area is still a virgin and has not been explored by many travelers who choose top adventurous trekking areas but not this one. You will trek into this valley for more than two weeks, where you will be getting closure with the eight highest mountains in the world, which is Mount Manaslu at 8,163m.

Geographically and culturally Manaslu and Tsum Valley Trek area is fascinating where you will have magnificent views of Mountains and dramatic landscapes. You will observe and explore canyons, mu gompa, Tibet culture, and a high pass crossing. As this is the least explored valley, you will see the wild hidden Tsum valley of Nepal with its rich art, culture, and heritage, mountains, traditional villages of the locals, cheerful peoples, mani walls, chortens, and lively festivals of the locals.

You will make a semi-circle trip around the three peaks of Manaslu, where we will visit the Budhi Gandaki, passing the Mu Gompa of Tsum Valley at a 3,700m altitude. From there, we will be able to reach Ganesh Himal, Singri Himal, and Boudha Himal range and cross over of Manaslu circuit trek high passes Larke pass at 5,106m.

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1400 m)

Greetings from Nepal! When you arrive, a member of our staff will welcome you and transport you to the hotel that you have reserved. The remainder of the day is then yours to relax and adjust to the altitude.

A briefing about the trek’s schedule, equipment, and other essential information will take place in the evening. Additionally, one will get the chance to get to know their fellow trekkers and guides.  It’s a perfect day to explore nearby places.

Day 2: Sightseeing day in Kathmandu and preparation for trek.

You will start this day with a guided tour of some of the city’s most well-known historical and cultural sites, including Pashupatinath Temple, the biggest Hindu temple in Nepal, Boudhanath Stupa, the biggest stupa in Nepal and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and Swayambhunath, also known as the Monkey Temple, an old Buddhist temple complex. You will have the chance to learn about the background and significance of these locations, as well as the customs and culture of the locals, throughout the sightseeing.

You will use the afternoon to spend time getting ready for the trek. You will need to organize personal stuff, inspect and pack your equipment, and purchase any last-minute necessities. Additionally, the trek leader will inspect the gear and offer any additional instructions. 

A pre-trek meeting with our guides will also be held, during which we will go over the trek’s schedule, route conditions, and any other pertinent information.

Day 3: Drive to Maccha Khola – (869 m) 7-8 Hrs Drive

The trek’s beginning site, Maccha Khola, is where the day’s activities get underway. You will drive for about 7-8 hours through Nepal’s picturesque landscape, passing through small towns, terraced farms, and rivers.  You will pass via Arughat and Soti Khola on the dusty road on the journey to Machha Khola.

You will have time to rest, freshen up, and get ready for the walk once you arrive at Maccha Khola. Once there, you can meet other hikers, explore the neighborhood, and get ready for the hike the following day.

Day 4: Maccha Khola to Jagat – (1340 m) 6-7 Hrs Trek

Distance: 22.5 km

Trek Duration: 6-7 hrs

Maximum Altitude: Jagat (1340 m)

Meals: Breakfast, Dinner, Lunch

The first day of the walk is today, and Jagat, which is at a height of 1340m, is the destination. The walk will start in Maccha Khola, and it will take you through thick forests, over suspension bridges, and alongside the Budi Gandaki River.

Early in the day, the route passes through Khorlabesi as it heads toward Tatopani, a region renowned for its natural hot springs. As soon as you reach the Manaslu Conservation area, you must climb steeply to reach Dobhan. Once you get to Jagat, you can settle into your lodging, get ready, and eat dinner.

Day 5: Jagat to Lokpa – (2240 m) 6-7 hrs Trek

Distance: 17.5 km

Trek Duration: 6-7 hrs

Maximum Altitude: Lokpa (2240 m)

Today’s itinerary begins with a hike from Jagat to Lokpa. All of the permits will be registered at the upcoming checkpoint in Jagat. The trail crosses the suspension bridge over the Budhi Gandaki River after passing via a ridge. You will enter Tsum valley as you continue on this nice hike. Small settlements are traversed along the trail, and you can view the Syar River flowing out of Tsum Valley.

You will soon arrive in Lokpa, a secret village. The Manaslu range can be seen in its entirety from this location.

Day 6: Lokpa to Chumling – (2386 m) 5-6 hrs Trek

After breakfast, the walk starts from Lokpa. We enter the mysterious Buddhist valley through a lush jungle and three further suspension bridges. The remainder of your journey to Chumling is quite relaxing and allows you to unwind and take in the beauty of the valley after an initial steep ascent.

Day 7:Chumling to Chhokang Paro– (3031 m) 6-7 hrs Trek

Today, the trail continues along Siyar khola’s northern bank. We travel across the inner Himalayan region’s upper valley. The trail continues along Siyar khola’s northern bank. We cross over the Samatikring, Sarpu, and Udilu khola rivers via bridges. You climb via the Gho village before continuing uphill to Chhokang Paro settlement.

Day 8: Chhokang Paro to Nile – (3361 m) 5 – 6 hrs Trek

  • Trek Duration: 5-6 hrs
  • Maximum Altitude: Nile (336 m)
  • Meals: Breakfast, Dinner, Lunch

The distances you must walk today will be shorter, and the paths will be simple. As you make your way toward the Nile, stop by the Milarepa Piren Phu cave on the route.

As you travel into upper Tsum Valley, you’ll observe that the terrain is both more fertile and smaller than other paths you’ve taken. After traveling through the settlement of Lamagaon, you will reach the Milarepa Cave, also referred to as Pigeon Cave.

This mystical cave is located on a mountain with a rough cliff face. Valleys may be seen beautifully from the cave monastery. You will start walking and cross a suspension bridge across the River of Shiar once you have spent some time visiting this cave. Once more, you must cross a lengthy bridge to get to the Nile.

Day 9:Day Trip to Mu Gompa Overnight at the Nile – (3700 m) 6 hrs Hike

You will stroll along the west bank of the valley, which is extremely close to the Tibetan border, after eating breakfast at the Nile today. With only a 3 to 4-hour climb today, you can reach Mu Gompa with ease. Trans Himalayan Terrain will take you through arid terrain. As you pass by yak pastures and an ancient monastery, you will get stunning views of the mountain and homes.

Day 10: Nile to Chhokang Paro – (3031 m) 5 hrs Trek

We make our way back to Chumling from Gompa. The path descends to Rachen Gompa before continuing on to Chhule and Phurbe. In the region where Nepal and Tibet converge, Rachen Gompa is encircled by enormous mountains. However, you must travel through a forest to reach your target for the day, which is Chhokangparo.

Day 11: Chhokang Paro to Chumling – (2386 m) 5-6 hrs Trek

You depart Chhokung Paro today and descend to Gho. To go to Rainjam Village, you will have to cross a suspension bridge close to Gho and continue walking. Once you’ve left Rainjam Village, go down to Tsum Valley until you reach Chumling.

Day 12: Chumling to Deng – (1860 m) 6 hrs Trek

You’ll depart Chumling today and continue your descent. To go to Lokpa Village, you will be traveling along the Shair Khola’s bank.

Following Lokpa, the trail declines as you walk across a sturdy bridge over the Budi Gandaki and then enter a small gorge. The trail continues to rise and fall while gently descending into the valley from here. You will soon arrive in the Gurung village of Deng.

Day 13: Deng to Namrung – (2630 m) 6-7 hrs

You go steadily along an uneven path through woodlands until you reach Ghap. After then, the trail keeps slowly increasing altitude as you pass by the nearby river’s surging white water. The last ascent into Namrung is difficult.

Day 14:Namrung to Sama Gaun – (3530 m) 6 – 7 hrs trek

You will depart Namrung and travel to Sama Gaun on this day. The walk advances through the village’s stone gate and long Mani stone wall after Lho. To get a very close-up view of Manaslu from here, take a detour to Pungen. The trial moves along Pungen’s lateral moraine in the direction of Sama. From there, it takes another 20 minutes to get to Sama Gompa, where you can spend the night.

Day 15: Acclimatization Day (Day Trip to Manaslu Base Camp (4400 m 7 Hrs Hike) , Pungyen Gompa Or Birendra Taal Overnight at Sama Gaun.

The purpose of today is to become acclimated. There is a choice for full or half-day treks. The direction of the full-day hike is Manaslu Base Camp (approximately 6-7 hour round trip). Alternatively, there are half-day hikes to Birendra Tal or across the valley.

Day 16: Sama Gaun to Samdo – (3875 m) 3-4 Hrs Trek

The journey gets closer to Samdo today. Given that you are at a high altitude, you should be more cautious when you walk and stroll. Here, you can see several bird species, yaks grazing, and gorgeous scenery.

You get to cross the Budi Gandaki Bridge on the other walk. You then arrive in the village of white Kani, which is Samdo’s neighbor. You eventually arrive at your destination, Samdo.

Day 17: Samdo to Dharmasala – (4460 m) 3–4 hrs Trek

You will pass the Larke Bazaar, a temporary Tibetan bazaar, after finishing breakfast in Samdo. You will next make your way down to the Budi Gandaki River. Along the route, you’ll see a lot of traditional monasteries.

You will cross the wooden bridge while moving upward, traversing two streams, and taking in views of the Larkya Glacier. In order to go to Dharamsala, also known as Larke Phedi, one must first circumnavigate the Salka Khola Valley and then climb once again.

Day 18: Dharmasala to Bimthang via Larkya Pass(5160 m) & Bimthang – (3590 m) 8–9 hrs Trek

You will walk to Larkya La Pass, which is located at 5160 meters, on this day. For this walk, you must leave early because you must pass across Larkya La Pass before the afternoon.

Once you succeed in getting to the Pass, you will experience greater calm as you take in the magnificent views of Himlung, Kang Guru, and Annapurna II.

Once you’ve had your fill of the breathtaking views at the Pass, you’ll descend for three hours while admiring the sights of icebergs and glaciers before arriving in Bimthang, where you’ll spend the night.

Day 19: Bimthang to Dharapani – (1970 m) 7-8 hrs Trek

Our trek’s final day is today. From Bhimthang, you will make your way down via the yak pastures. Following that, you will cross a bridge over the Dudh Khola to reach the rhododendron forest. The walk descends to a stunning rhododendron forest. You must trek uphill from Tilije village to reach Dharapani.

Day 20: Dharapani to Beshisahar drive by sharing jeep and drive to Kathmandu same day by private car Or jeep (1400 m.) 6/7hrs
