Overview
The Mardi Himal with Khopra Ridge Trek is a wonderful mix of two outstanding treks in Nepal’s of Annapurna Region. It is a little bit challenging but exhilarating at the same time. This trek is an off-the-beaten-path trekking trail that takes you up the Kopra ridge, through woods, and past traditional communities in the Annapurna region.
The trek to the Mardi Himal Base Camp is also an alternative to the Annapurna Base Camp trek. It offers a dazzling view of Annapurna ranges; Annapurna I, Annapurna South, Machhapuchhre, Hiuchuli, Gangapurna, Tare Kang, Khangsar, and many more. Not only that the panoramic view of Mardi Himal itself is breathtaking. The trail follows the route through forests of rhododendron, oak, and maple. Several species of birds and animals are the inhabitants of the jungle.
Mardi Himal stands at an altitude of 5,587 m from sea level just underneath the prestigious Mt. Machhapuchhre. Basil Goodfellow was the first to the summit in 1961. Mardi Himal is claimed to be one of the trekking peaks by the Nepal Government.
The trek is not strenuous but somehow a bit rough. So, the physical fitness of an individual determines the success of the trek. The trail to the base camp follows through rocky sections at a high altitude from sea level. Therefore, an average level of fitness is required.
Nepal Mountain Adventure offers you the standard route with the most satisfactory adventurous experience. For inquiries and booking, contact us via email, or you can visit our official websites. We are keen to serve you in the best possible way.

The combined Mardi Himal and Khopra Ridge Trek with Nepal Mountain Adventure starts from USD 1,099 per person including a licensed guide, porter, all accommodation, three daily meals, and ACAP and TIMS permits for the full 12 to 14 day itinerary.
This combined trek is rated moderate to strenuous due to its length and the cumulative elevation gain across two separate ridge systems. Trekkers walk 5 to 7 hours daily and need good overall fitness to comfortably manage both the Mardi Himal ridge and the Khopra Danda section over 12 to 14 consecutive days.
Nepal Mountain Adventure runs this combination over 12 to 14 days starting from Pokhara, completing the Mardi Himal section first through Forest Camp, High Camp, and Mardi Base Camp, then crossing to the Khopra Ridge section via Ghandruk, Tadapani, Dobato, and Khopra Danda before returning to Pokhara.
Spring (March to May) is the single best time for this combination as both trail sections pass through spectacular rhododendron forests that bloom from February through April. Autumn (September to November) is equally rewarding for clear mountain views from both Mardi Himal Base Camp and Khopra Danda.
The highest point is 4,500 m at Mardi Himal Base Camp with an optional push to around 4,700 m above base camp on a clear morning. The Khopra Danda section tops out at 3,660 m with an optional side hike to Khayer Lake at 4,500 m adding a second high altitude highlight to the trek.
Two permits cover the entire combined route which are the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP, USD 30) and the TIMS card (USD 20). Nepal Mountain Adventure arranges both permits in Pokhara so trekkers can start immediately without any administrative delays.
Combining both treks in one trip gives you two completely different Annapurna viewpoints from different ridges, avoids repeating the same trail on the return, covers far more of the Annapurna Conservation Area, and delivers exceptional value for trekkers who have 12 to 14 days available in Nepal.
Both the Mardi Himal and Khopra Ridge trails are among the least trafficked routes in the Annapurna region, seeing only a small fraction of the trekkers who walk the main ABC or Poon Hill trails. This combination is ideal for trekkers who specifically want to avoid crowds while still experiencing world class Himalayan scenery.
Trekkers stay in a mix of teahouses in Pokhara area villages and community lodges at high camps on both the Mardi Himal and Khopra Ridge sections. Nepal Mountain Adventure books accommodation in advance for all stops on this combined itinerary so there are no lodging uncertainties on the trail.
