The Yala Peak Climbing is the best mountain climbing venue in Nepal’s Langtang region. It’s a stunning trek that takes you all the way to the pinnacle of Yala Peak (5,520 m). The ascent to the summit is a simple mountaineering experience that can be completed in a short amount of time.
The ascent to Yale Peak Climbing is not technically difficult, but it is physically demanding. In the last climb’s steep ice stretch, a fixed rope and crampons become useful. Apart from ascending the Himalayan peak, the trek itself is worthwhile.
The trails leading to Yale Peak provide breathtaking views of turquoise lakes, enormous glaciers, and high passes. The vistas of mountains like Lantang Lirung, Dorje Lakapa, and Shisapagma are breathtaking. You will get a close look at Himalayan livelihoods and Tibetan culture in their purest form. It has recently attracted a large number of climbers because of its average height.
The trek to Yala Peak Climbing begins with a drive from Kathmandu along the Syabrubesi route. The walk then continues from Syafrubesi through lush forests, following the river as it flows through a tight gorge on its way to Langtang Valley. Moving a little higher, the Kyanjing Gompa, named after a historic monastery, appears. The trail then leads you to Yala Peak Base Camp, where you can tackle the Yala Peak. After completing the mission, the trip continues down the same path and comes to a close.

Yale Peak Climbing takes 14 to 17 days with Nepal Mountain Adventure, approaching through the Khumbu region via the Everest Base Camp Trek route to reach the Yale Peak summit at 5,820 m above the Chhukung valley in the Imja drainage area.
Yale Peak Climbing with Nepal Mountain Adventure starts from USD 1,599 per person including the Yale Peak climbing permit, licensed guide, porter, base camp camping and cook, all meals, Sagarmatha National Park permit, Khumbu Pasang Lhamu permit, Lukla flights, and all teahouse accommodation on the approach.
Yale Peak at 5,820 m is rated moderate to strenuous and is less technically demanding than Island Peak (6,189 m) but higher than Thorong Peak (5,500 m). The standard route involves crampon use and basic fixed rope sections on moderate snow terrain making it a good intermediate step between easier trekking peaks and the full technical challenges of Island Peak or Lobuche East.
Yale Peak is a 5,820 m summit in the Imja Valley of the Khumbu region, sitting above the Chhukung Ri viewpoint area near the approach to Island Peak. It offers exceptionally clear views of the Lhotse south face and the surrounding Khumbu peaks from a position that is slightly lower than Island Peak but no less dramatic in terms of the surrounding mountain architecture.
Three permits are required which are the Yale Peak Climbing Permit (USD 125 autumn, USD 250 spring) from the Nepal Mountaineering Association, the Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit (USD 30), and the Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Municipality Permit (USD 20). Nepal Mountain Adventure arranges all permits in Kathmandu.
Autumn (October to November) is the best season. Post-monsoon conditions provide the most stable weather and firm snow on Yale Peak’s upper sections. Spring (April to May) is the alternative but Nepal Mountain Adventure finds that autumn provides more consistently clear summit views from this particular Khumbu location.
From the Yale Peak summit at 5,820 m climbers see extraordinary close-range views of the Lhotse south face (8,516 m), Nuptse (7,861 m), Island Peak (6,189 m), and the entire Chhukung valley below. The view of Ama Dablam (6,812 m) from the Yale Peak summit ridge is considered one of the finest close-range perspectives of this iconic mountain available from any trekking peak.
Chhukung Ri at 5,550 m is the standard trekking day hike from Chhukung that requires no climbing permit. Yale Peak at 5,820 m is 270 m higher and provides a significantly more elevated and complete aerial perspective of the Imja Glacier and the surrounding Khumbu peaks. For climbers ready to take the technical step beyond Chhukung Ri, Yale Peak delivers an extraordinary upgrade in both altitude and panoramic scope.
Yes, Nepal Mountain Adventure offers a combined Yale Peak and Island Peak package of 22 to 25 days that summits Yale Peak (5,820 m) during the Chhukung acclimatization section and then continues to Island Peak (6,189 m) as the main high summit objective. This combination gives climbers two Khumbu peak summits from the same approach itinerary in a highly efficient climbing package.
