This  Manaslu Circuit Trek is among the best off-the-beaten-path treks in Nepal. Despite its recent rise in popularity, the Manaslu Circuit Route remains remote and less touristic compared to the better-known teahouse Trekking in Nepal, which takes you throughout Manaslu, the world’s eighth highest mountain at 8,163 meters (26,781 ft).

This Manaslu circuit trek of 14 days leads you to breathtaking views and many more, starting at Soti Khola. The Manaslu Route Nepal is a unique trekking. Ten peaks of more than 6,500 meters (21,300 ft) in height are visible while trekking through the Manaslu Trekking region, including elevations of more than 7,000 meters (23,000 ft) high.

One of the major parts of the Manaslu Circuit Trek Itinerary is Larke Pass. This part is a little difficult because you are crossing the High Pass (5,160m). Along the way, at the top of the Larke Pass, you’ll be captivated by breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks, including Manaslu, Himlung Himal, and Annapurna II.

If we talk about the people in this region, the Manaslu Circuit Trekking area is populated by two ethnic groups; Nubri and Tsum. Chhikur’s branching off the river separates these two racial territories. While Nubri was frequently visited following Nepal’s 1950 tourism opening, Tsum Valley retains much of its traditional culture, art, and tradition. Gurungs are the largest ethnic group in the central hills of the region. This trek will charm you with every bit of thing you ask for, which can be natural beauty, impressive waterfalls, cultural and historical values, magnificent adventures, and many more.

While talking about the Manaslu Circuit Trek Cost, it can vary depending on several factors, including the duration of the trek, the services included in the package, and the size of the trekking group. These costs is for single pax and can vary based on individual preferences, negotiation skills, and the level of comfort and services desired. We advise you to consult with our trekking and tour manager to get accurate and up-to-date information on the cost of the Manaslu Circuit trek based on your specific requirements.

You can also choose the other Manaslu circuit trek with Serang Gumba, if you have more time. But there is a package of Tsum Valley and Manaslu trek if you love to go deeper in the Manaslu region.

In autumn, the sky is clear, the weather is steady, and you can see the amazing Himalayan mountains really well, making the trek even more fun. Both seasons are not too hot or too cold, so it’s comfy for walking. The rainy season (June to August) is not good for trekking because there are heavy rains and landslides. FAQ

How long does the Manaslu Circuit Trek take?

The Manaslu Circuit Trek takes 14 to 18 days with Nepal Mountain Adventure, trekking around the entire Manaslu massif through the Budhi Gandaki valley, crossing the Larkya La Pass at 5,160 m, and finishing in the Annapurna region near Dharapani.

How much does the Manaslu Circuit Trek cost?

The Manaslu Circuit Trek with Nepal Mountain Adventure starts from USD 1,499 per person including a licensed guide, porter, restricted area permits, teahouse accommodation, and three daily meals throughout the full circuit.

Is the Manaslu Circuit Trek harder than the Annapurna Circuit?

Yes, the Manaslu Circuit is considered more challenging than the Annapurna Circuit due to the remote trail conditions, limited teahouse infrastructure, higher daily elevation gains, and the demanding Larkya La Pass crossing at 5,160 m which requires an early pre-dawn start from Dharamsala camp.

What permits do I need for the Manaslu Circuit Trek?

Three permits are required which are the Manaslu Restricted Area Permit (USD 100 for the first week, USD 15 per day after), the Manaslu Conservation Area Permit (USD 30), and the TIMS card (USD 20). Nepal Mountain Adventure arranges all three restricted area permits before departure.

Can I do the Manaslu Circuit Trek without a guide?

No. The Manaslu Circuit is a restricted area trek that legally requires a licensed guide under Nepal government regulations. Solo trekking without a registered guide is not permitted and permits will not be issued. Nepal Mountain Adventure provides experienced licensed guides for all Manaslu departures.

What is the best time to trek the Manaslu Circuit?

Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are the best seasons. The Larkya La Pass becomes extremely dangerous with heavy snow from December to February and completely inaccessible during monsoon season from June to August.

What is Larkya La Pass and how hard is the crossing?

Larkya La Pass at 5,160 m is the highest point of the Manaslu Circuit and one of the most demanding high mountain pass crossings in Nepal. The crossing takes 7 to 9 hours starting before dawn from Dharamsala (4,460 m) and requires good fitness, proper acclimatization, and correct gear for cold and wind.

How is the Manaslu Circuit different from other Nepal treks?

The Manaslu Circuit is one of the least crowded major trekking circuits in Nepal because the restricted area permit limits visitor numbers. Trekkers experience pristine wilderness, ancient Tibetan Buddhist monasteries, traditional Nubri and Tsum cultural villages, and dramatic gorge and glacier scenery that is entirely absent on the busier Everest and Annapurna trails.

What altitude sickness risk does the Manaslu Circuit carry?

AMS risk is significant as trekkers spend multiple days above 4,000 m and cross the Larkya La Pass at 5,160 m. NMA’s itinerary includes carefully spaced acclimatization days at Samagaon (3,530 m) and Samdo (3,875 m) and all guides carry supplemental oxygen, pulse oximeters, and Diamox for emergency situations.

Can I combine the Manaslu Circuit with the Tsum Valley Trek?

Yes, it is the best option to combine the Manaslu Circuit with the Tsum Valley Trek for a more comprehensive and culturally rich experience.

Just got back from the Manaslu Circuit Trek and I genuinely don’t know how to go back to normal life

I’ve done a few treks before and thought I knew what to expect from a Himalayan adventure. I was very, very wrong. Our group of eight landed in Kathmandu with excitement and nervous energy, and what followed over 14 days around the Manaslu Circuit was something none of us had words for even while it was happening. The Manaslu region is raw, restricted, and barely touched by the tourist traffic you see everywhere else in Nepal. Walking through the Budhi Gandaki gorge with the river roaring beside us and cliffs shooting straight up on both sides, I remember thinking this is exactly why I came to Nepal.
By the time we hit Sama Gaun and took our acclimatization day toward Manaslu Base Camp at 4,800 meters, we weren’t eight strangers anymore. We were eight people who’d shared dusty bus rides, teahouse dinners, altitude headaches, and genuine awe watching Mount Manaslu at 8,163 meters turn pink at sunset right in front of us. Then came Larkya La Pass. We started in the dark, headlamps on, crunching through ice before dawn, and when we finally crested that pass at 5,106 meters with Himlung Himal, Kang Guru, and Annapurna II spread across the horizon, half the group was in tears and the other half was just standing there open mouthed. It’s the kind of moment you spend the rest of your life trying to describe.
Everything was looked after seamlessly from permits to gear to teahouse arrangements, and our guide was the kind of person who was somehow three places at once, checking on slower walkers, spotting wildlife tracks, and keeping spirits high at dinner. The dal bhat actually fueled those big climbing days and the warmth from local teahouse families along the Manaslu Circuit route is something you simply cannot put a price on. If you are on the fence, just book it. You will thank yourself every single day out there.
